Gigi Leung Breaks Up With BF Matthew

Gigi Leung was reported dating French boyfriend Matthew  last year. But sadly, this relationship didn't last too long. It's known the main problem that caused the relationship to fail is distance.

Matthew planned to celebrate Gigi's birthday (March 25) in Japan but an earthquake happened on the 11th. Gigi changed her plan and went to Spain instead, upsetting her beau in Hong Kong. Also, Matthew's term in Hong Kong will end next year, which means he will have to leave soon, making the relationship into a distant one. Plus, Gigi didn't treat him too well when he went to see her concert in Beijing last Christmas, looks like Gigi decided to break it off in the end.

As for the break-up, Gigi expressed she is not replying to her personal matters. Her manager even persisted that they never admit they are in a relationship; just good friends.

"She and Matthew have been just good friends, and they still are."

Gigi Leung Admits New Romance

Gigi Leung was spotted dating new boyfriend Matthew earlier. Yesterday he attended to an event and did not deny the relationship. She sweetly replied they are still at a stage of knowing each other. She hopes to handle it in low profile so she does not want to talk too much about it. She said Matthew is not used to being followed by reporters but knows she is an artiste.

Gigi Leung Has a Date With New Beau

Several months after she announced her split with French boyfriend of four years, it seems Gigi Lai has found another right man to be in a romantic relationship: Matthew.

Coincidence or not, Matthew, whose full name is Dolbow Matthew Steven, is also a foreigner. He stands 6 feet tall, which matches the 5'8 Gigi very well, and is quite a handsome man. Not only he is good looking, he also have a good job. He is currently a consul for the U.S Consulate General in Hong Kong and speaks for the consulate often.

The couple fell in love quickly after they were introduced by friends. But they keep their relationship in low-profile and rarely date in public. It was until yesterday reporters spotted the two in a date at a coffee shop. Gigi and a female friend arrived at the coffee shop where Matthew was waiting. It is tough when it comes to love for Gigi. In 1999, she was criticized for breaking her former boyfriend Ekin Cheng's previous relationship with TVB actress Maggie Siu. Then this year, she announced the break-up with her French boyfriend and it was rumored the reason is because her mom disagreed in having a foreigner son-in-law.
